Something different!

This post is not a cross stitch project for once. But it does involve a needle (and pins)and thread!

I've wanted one of these for a long time. I just never wanted to buy one. I thought to myself a while that I would make one, and then I forgot all about it. Typical me.

I took me about 10 minutes tops to make it. I put a piece of cardboard in it so I wouldn't poke myself every time I would use it.

I used some stuff that I just had laying around. Scrape fabric, thin cardboard, and elastic.
It was very easy. I use my sewing machine, and just hand stitched the end. And Ta Da!

I want to make more now. Maybe I'll make one for my sister and my mom.

Sugar and Spice!

Wow, sorry it's been nearly a month since my last post but this post what show you why I haven't posted in a while. :)

It is called Sugar and Spice. It was designed by Dale Burdett. It's the second design that I have done by her and I love her stuff. (although some looked a little dated but that's ok, thay are for the 80's)
It was stitched on 14 ct. aida
It's designed for an oval frame. But I'm not going to frame it.
I stitched this for my sister. She wants to do Holly Hobby type decorations for her kitchen, and when I saw this one I knew that she would love it.

This project has had the most french knots ::shudder:: in one design that I have ever done! And I'm very happy to say, er, type that I have gotten over my aversion to french knots. YAY!
::does happy dance::
They are on her bonnet, bloomers and apron.

My First baby theme!

I have never done a baby theme before. None of my friends are the baby type. And I'm not having one anytime soon.

A co-worker is pregnant and we are throwing her a baby shower. Which is tomorrow and I finished this today O.0
The reason why we are throwing one and not her mom is a long story. But anyway...

I wanted to stitch something up for her. I didn't have a long enough notice to do a big one and I didn't know what she was having until three days ago (he was shy).

I like those doorknob pillow hangy thingies. So I made it into one!
I'm very pleased with how well it turned out.

The pattern I got out of a booklet from the 80's, called I Love Miniatures, by Dale Burdett.

Explosion!

Last night we had some friends over and one of them brought me a gift. And to my surprise it was a bag stuffed full of floss! I was more then a little happy. She made my night!

And from the look of the binding on them, I want to say that they are at lest from the 1980s. Ooh, vintage!
I remember what the ones my mom used back then and they look just like them.
So now I have to go through all of me current thread and check to see if the numbers have changed or the dye lot changed. I hope not. Wish me luck!!

Free time paying off

I'm on vacation. But we decided to stay home and bum around. Aside from playing video games, I've been crafty. :)

I finished a little cross stitch kit. The little $2 one. I saw it and it reminded me of my sister (she likes to spin her own yarn).

And I finished a bag too! Woot! I made this little sheepy with white fleece stitched on with black thread and white thread in the black areas. I LOVE simple things. Something simple or even plain things like more elegant then glamy and detailed stuff.

Our shop is undergoing some changes so we has been taking down somethings and will be adding new items in the near future. So I'm going to add this one to my shop along with a whole lot of others!!

Cute pattern site for all you anime lovers, geeky chicks, and gamers! Anime cross stitch

This is a fun forum for classic 8 bit games, chat and post with other nerd-tastic folks! Sprite Stitch Board

I have been working on one of those little kits that you can buy for like $2, and I cute design for my sister. But I have a crazy work schedule now and I started to do yoga again so I have been a little bit busier, but I am working!! :)
I have been sewing too. I have a couple of extremely plain short black dresses and I added trim and fun stuff to them.

A new year

I'm not one that sets new year's resolutions, but I starting thinking. Yes, I know scary, you should go run and hide. I don't like the fact that most of the resolutions that people set for themselves never get accomplished. So I guess I don't set them so I won't disappoint myself. hehe.
But there is one thing that I do want to do. That is stitching more. I really slacked off at the end of the year. But I feel that I will pick it up in full force now. :)

I have a couple of little cross stitch projects going on. Those will keep me happy. But want I really want to do is more for my Etsy shop. That's mostly sewing but that's what I love. I have loads of handbags, totes and purses that are blank and ready to be embellished. I have made a lot last year and still have yet to put them up on our shop. That bit is The Boy's job (he has been slacking).

I also want to make more of my dolls, like the one that is currently my icon.
Those little girlies are fun!
