Mister Simon

Previously I made a post about the baby gifts that I made for a friend. This post is pretty much the same thing but for another friend.

I came to the conclusion that I really enjoy making baby stuff. Everything is miniature, it's so freaking cute!

Alright, move along I'm done squealing.

 

Mister Simon was introduced to the world back at the end of May.

I made a box bag, bunting, appliqued a tote, embroidered a onesie and a couple of burp clothes.

 

She had a couple of themes and I completely ignored them ;)

She loved everything!

 This is the second box bag that I have ever made and it turned out better then the first one.

Practice makes prefect, right?

I drew up this little guy in a snap and appliqued him onto a canvas bag. 

I draw better in straight lines.

I just had to embroider a onesie.

And Cinnamon just had to "help" by laying on the stuff.

Travel Boxy Bag

A couple of years ago my mom bought me a book on no sew to sew little bags. I put it on my shelf with every intention to make some, but I forgot all about it. :(

I picked it up the other day and decided that it will not be put away until I make one of the bags from it.

 

The material that the instructions called for was oilcloth, but I don't have that handy and I really wanted to do that style. So, I used two different fabrics and a very stiff interfacing instead.

 

I thought about putting the handle on but I didn't feel like making one, so this version doesn't have one.

It was pretty easy, the multiple fabric was a little tricky at some points, but overall it was manageable.

 

It took me a couple of hours tops.

I think now I'll go out to see if I can find some oilcloth and make another one.

Simple drawstring bag for my new camera

This is just a very simple drawstring bag that I made for my new camera.
It took me about 5 minutes to whip up.


I wanted to keep it covered so it doesn't get dusty, and a little protection for the screen.
Haven't decided if we will buy a nice bag for it or not. So this is it's home for now...

Happiness is... New stuff!!

Embellishing is my middle name! Well not really, well ok not at all, but I do it often enough to have it mean something.

This bag is a premade canvas bag that I added a pocket to and an extra long strap to. I have loads of remnants of cotton fabric. So I followed a tutorial in a book and made this! I'm a little annoyed that the fabric in the lower left corner puckered a little. But otherwise it looks good.
I was toying around with the idea of adding this type of bag (with the pockets) to my Etsy shop, but this isn't up to par for my taste, so I believe that I might give to a friend who LOVES cherries. :)

The pocket is lined and sewn on the front of the bag. Next time I will just hand sew it on, so there is a less chance of the puckering of the fabric. But I still like the look of it. I just used plain black cotton fabric for the longer handle so its easy to hang off the shoulder. And I added a snap closure.


This is the book that I got the project from. (A very awesome friend at work got it for me. <3)
I'm not a fan of the colors that are chosen in the book for the projects but otherwise it's not a bad book at all.
